Around 1840, Mrs Bouillat, heiress to a rich landowner in Versailles and Champagne areas, had Les Closeaux built on a vast plot of land belonging to the neighboring fortified farm of Les Ardents. It is a “mansion”, that is to say the residence of a rich owner who houses his day laborers there. The residence then passed from hand to hand, mainly occupied by notaries or lawyers from the nearby city of Troyes.
